What should I do. I am freaking out about this mistake?...
...I saw my doc for pre-op yesterday to get my tonsils out and possibly adenoids . THAT'S ALL
I wake up and he decided to cut off my uvula, which I understand is to relieve snoring, WHICH I DON'T HAVE. I just have a lot of strep infections.
He told my husband he thought it was too long. He didn't just trim it, he hacked it off and it looks like a tree stump.
Shouldn't he have gotten my permission to do that? It seems drastic when I didn't have any problem with it.
What I think, is he accidentally cut it off and then tried to justify that it was too long, why else wouldn't he have suggested it during the pre-op visit?
The good news is that I can breath through my nose better already. But I am in so much pain and can't swallow
They gave me a pill to take when I woke up and it went up my nose.
I never would have agreed, because I don't snore or have apnea. I'm actually quite partial to my body parts if I can keep them.
What should I do now? I feel totally violated and mutilated and this can't be fixed. I am sick over this. It will change my voice and have caused a swallowing dysfunction
What can I do for relief. ASAP. I can't eat without food going up instead of down. This was this morning and since I get my adenoids out too the food is irritating up there.
My husband for sure did not consent. He was as shocked as me and when he came into recovery he was stressing over it because I never told him.
The doc called him back after the surgery and said that he went ahead and trimmed the uvula because he thought it was too long. Then they sent him back to see me.
Right now, I just need some advice. Do I call him tomorrow and express my feelings and see if there is anything that he can do for the swallowing problem.
I'm really freaked out over this. It may be just a little flat of skin, but it's MY little flap of skin and now food goes up my nose.
"I think that if it really bothers you, you should consult an attorney. They shouldn't have done that without your consent."
