What's the most effective way to stop or reduce snoring?...

...Any devices that can be purchased on Ebay?

What about that anti-snoring ring, is that any use?

"alcohol and smoking doesnt help..alcohol cos it relaxes some part of the throat so makes it difficult to breath, and maybe taken up yoga cos it helps better breathing excercises on the lungs"

Is there a real solution to help stop my girlfriends snoring problem?...

...We have tried Breath Rites and the spray and neither work, any suggestions?

"puresleep.com. My wife is the snore queen, and it stops hers completely. A little uncomfortable at first, but better than all that noise. We both sleep better now.

Evaluation for sleep apnea also important."

Is there a VERY quick way to stop snoring? Please I really need help!?...

...I am sleeping at a friends house for two nights. Usually when I'm sleeping somewhere I would try to just stay up a little or sleep lightly not getting much rest because I feel so bad. But I can't do that for two nights. I know I snore and I know at times it can be loud and I DON'T want to keep my friends up. I can't stay in a different room then them either.
Just to clarify I don't sleep on my back I sleep on my stomach. I dont have the time to go get the breath rite strips because I am leaving soon and I don't think I will have the chance to get it while I'm there. I cant go to the doctor between now and then. I basically need a VERY quick tip on a way to either reduce or stop snoring for a night.
Please no tips saying to sleep on my side, waking me up while I'm snoring to stop it, elevating myself with pillows, or avoiding alcohol and/or medication because those don't always work for me and I am looking for a method that will work. Are there ANY other tips that may work for the night?

"Use a humidifier. It eases your breathing and reduces snoring. Snoring exercises also help some people."

Trouble sleeping with any noise?...

...I cant sleep with any noise. If I hear someone even breathing, I become wide awake and very mad. I tend to throw things like pillows or anything around me at people, if they are making any noise while I'm trying to sleep. If someone is snoring, I make them leave my room, but then I lie awake most of the night because I cant fall aseep because they were snoring. Its really frustrating. Does anyone know any ways i can stop this behavior?

"Two things: 1 try Advil PM as you will not wake up at night as much ans have a better night's sleep. 2. the foam earplugs usually orange or pink. the ones that give you the highest ratting of noise stoppage on the label in DB. BTW 10 DB is ten times the sound loudness. so earplugs with a 25 is only 1/10 as good as blocking noise as a rating of 35. The foam ones last longest and don't bother your ears."

My boyfriends snoring is really effecting my sleep?...

...i have lived with my boyfriend and his family for about three years now. over the last year or so he started gaining weight and now snores so loud and sickly soundly that im up all night with headphones and music. I now have to stay awake all night and when he awakens, i can go to sleep. because of my sleeping pattern im not eating and i find myself sleeping for almost 12 hours.

Ive tried rolling him to his side, and asking him to lay in other positions but lately he just kicks me and tells me to shut up.

I'll probbaly get answers like "sleep in a different room" but since this isnt my house, and i dont want to sleep downstairs on the couch (early risers here ) i really cant go any place else to sleep.

my questions are,

he has never snored up until this last year. why now?
is there anything I can do do stop his snoring?
inexpenissive store bought items i can try?
and can this be from a health problem he has developed, if so, what could be causing it ?

thank you in advance, sorry about the length :)

"Sounds like it's related to his weight gain. Either get him to lose weight or get a new boyfriend.
God bless."

What can I do to stop snoring?...

...Hey,
I really need to know how to stop snoring!
It's horrible when im sleeping at my girlfriends and she cant sleep in the same bed as me!
What can I do??
Thanks

"There are several things you can do which help many people. Try the tennis ball trick. Many people who snore do so while sleeping on their backs. Place a tennis ball in a sock and pin it to the back of the shirt you sleep in. Then, when you roll over at night, the ball will nudge you back on to your side, where you are less likely to snore. Also, try a humidifier. Many people snore because of undiagnosed allergies. The humidifier will ease congestion, which will reduce snoring. Whatever you do to stop snoring, it's worth it. Snoring has been linked to a 67% increased risk of stroke."

How do I get rid of my snoring while I sleep?...

...I've never really snored while I slept on a regular basis, but now I'm snoring every night and that's not usual for me. Sometimes I snore when I'm really tired. I've been going to bed at maybe twelve o'clock in the morning and getting up at nine to get my nine hours of sleep every night, but if I go to bed at ten and wake up at seven will I stop snoring?

"It makes sense to try some simple non-invasive treatments first to see if they will reduce or prevent your snoring.

Sleep on your side
Elevate the head of your bed
Limit alcohol and medications
Clear your nasal passages
Lose weight
If you snore:

With your mouth closed: a problem with the tongue is probably the culprit

With your mouth open: your snoring is likely related to the tissues in your throat

Only on your back: your snoring is probably mild – improved sleep habits and lifestyle changes may be effective cures ... Do you sleep on your back? Try the “tennis ball trick”: sleep with a tennis ball (or any ball of approximately the same size) attached to the back of your pajama top. (You can sew a pocket or safety-pin a sock to the back of the pajama top, then put a tennis ball in it.) The tennis ball is uncomfortable if you lie on your back, and you will respond by turning on your side. Soon you will develop side-sleeping as a habit and not need the tennis ball.

In all sleep positions: your snoring is more severe and may require a more comprehensive treatment"

Jaw Supporter Can Help Prevent Snoring?...

...

"Snoring research has shown that a jaw supporter (worn during sleep time) that keeps the lower jaw in an upward/forward position increases the three dimensional space in the airway tube which reduces air velocity and soft tissue vibration. By increasing the volumetric capacity of the airway and preventing soft tissue vibrations, snoring is eliminated or substantially reduced. The jaw supporter comfortably keeps the lower jaw in an upward/forward position and increases three-dimensional space in the airway.

A jaw supporter is based on the same principle as CPR. The airway must be open to allow air to pass through the throat. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring and/or OSA. A jaw supporter can hold the lower jaw in a position so that it does not fall backwards/down during the night and cause the airway to collapse. Maintaining a clear airway improves breathing and reduces snoring."
